Idle Hands
modified electronic toy, acrylic, steel
A thrift-store child's toy, deconstructed and rebuilt to become a terrible new musical instrument. The instrument is played using a combination of the tiny piano keyboard, a touch-sensitive body contact and a makeshift staccato control. The case is made from both acrylic and welded mild steel, which is expected to rust over time to match the gritty quality of the audio.
Idle Hands is part of my "The Center for Musical Destruction" series of crude electronic instruments, modified toys and noise makers.
See my Idle Hands 555 Keyboard blog post for more technical details on this instrument.
